REG US закрытие системы ведения реестра владельцев ценных бумаг компании-эмитента на определенный срок (не более 70 дней до даты выплаты дивидендов, проведения собрания, и пр.) в целях составления списка лиц, являющихся владельцами ценных бумаг и имеющих право на получение дивидендов, участие в собрании акционеров, получение уведомления о собрании и пр.; данный термин нередко противопоставляется "сбору реестра", при котором совет директоров заранее определяет дату составления списка владельцев ценных бумаг (fix the record date) без закрытия реестра
